13. Neue Pinakothek

Hallo !

Today I woke up willing to take a walk, but the sun was to shy for a Spaniard like me, and the wind was FREEZING ! So I decided to go to a museum. Not so windy … and a lot of cool stuff to see too !

There is definetely a lot to choose from in Munich, but after some research, I found that the New Pinakothek permanent collection is only 1€ on Sundays. I had no excuse !

I would like to show you everything, because I spent a couple of very interesting hours, but you’d have to go yourselves !

In one of the first rooms I was impressed by some HUGE paintings.

This one is The destruction of Jerusalem by Titus, by Wilhelm von Kaulbach. From 1846.

This photo is not great, but I just want to show you how big and detailed the paintings were.

I discovered plenty of German artists I was not familiar with. One room combined a painter and a sculptor :

The perspectives in the room were pretty interesting.

And last but not least : Van Gogh’s Sunflowers !! I didn’t expected to see such a well-known painting today, so I was quite amazed for a while. I guess one gets used to see Van Gogh’s paintings everywhere, but I think he was a genius !

There were also some Goya, Cézanne, Monet, Manet, Gauguin, Signac, a Turner, a Klimt, a Munch … The permanent collection is quite eclectic so I bet there is something you would like !

Have a nice week !
