Today marks my 6th month in Germany. Some achievement I would say, as it is the longest time I have been away from home. Since I miss home, let me speak in English.
In the Philippines, English is learned even before one child can even speak. I would say some people are even more fluent with English than our own native language. At the very least I’d say knowing English well is a huge advantage for me. And surprisingly, it has benefits too when it comes to learning German. Aside from the fact that it helped me connect with my classmates in the first levels, I’m actually surprised as to how close these languages are: Ball. Butter. Film. Hunger. Jacke. Braun. Silber. Just to name a few.
English had helped me a lot in terms of learning German but German is still a different level of difficult. Haha I never thought in my life before today, that I’d be able to learn this language but look where I am now. B2! And honestly despite my daily struggles of learning verschiedene Verben und neue Vokabeln, I really enjoy learning it.
My Deutsch may not yet be perfect but I can say, DeutschAkademie has helped me improve a lot. With 2 more weeks in B2 plus a few more Pluskurs classes, I can only hope for the best. With time and more practice, I know it is not impossible to be good in German as I am good in English.
Tag 8: E für Englisch… or Effort
📷 Aside from writing letters, I finally learned how to “compose” in Deutsch. Takes a lot of E as in Effort. But in the future, I hope it will be with E, as in Ease. ;)
Until the next post… in Deutsch. :)
Liebe,
Tricia
