Raise your mugs!

Hello guys!

I am studying Food Engineering at Unicamp (Universidade Estadual de Campinas) one of the most renowed universities in Brazil. My faculty is called FEA that means Faculdade de Engenharia de Alimentos (Faculty of Food Engineering). There we have a lot of parties with different themes (Costum parties, black and white parties, oldfashioned parties and so on) and some barbecues as well.

In our parties we have a very strong tradition. You are there enjoying the music, the beer and your friends when someone raises his mug and starts to sing our anthem and everybody stops dancing and talking and raise their mugs and start to sing as well. When you realize you have a chorus of voices singing our anthem and at the end we need to drink all the beer or the beverage that it is inside the mug!

If you like to have fun and you are in Brazil you mustn’t miss the opportunity to go to some of our parties. We are known as the best party makers in Campinas!! If you think you can stand 6 hours of pure diversion, good music, good drinks and nice peolpe, join me!

Insiders’ tip

This saturday was the Lange Nacht der Museen. Was ist das?!

A lot of museuns in Munich stays open for visiting from 19:00 to 2:00 and you just need to buy a single ticket for ¢15 and you can visit all of them.

For me the best one was the Botanischer Garten. It is a bit far but it worth! You can find there hundreds of plants that comes form different coutries and continents. The coolest part is that you can find a variety of enviroments in only one place so you can find aquatic plants, carnivorous plants, cactus, coffee tree and so on.

You really should go there!

Learn by doing!

Definitely the best wait to learn and memorize things is by doing!

This week we me and two friends could practice a bit of our German language skills in a restaurant. Surprisingly we could ask our “getranken”, “essen” and “Wie mochten zahlen, bitte”.

It is nice to see that we took less than a month to be able to it. I am very happy with my development in German language and hope to improve even more! It is a very challenging language for me because I am used to Latin languages and I really appreciate challenges so I think I am in a perfect place.

Going back to childhood in Berlin

Do you miss your childhood? Wish you could go back in time sometimes? So I have the perfect place for you!

I went to visit my friend in Berlin and we found this magical place near Sony Center in Postdamer Platz. The place is called Legoland Discovery Center. If you look on the outside you will think that it is just a Lego store but when you get into it you discover a world made of Lego pieces.

There you can find a zoo with animated animals, the sights of Berlin (The wall, Berliner Dom, Brandenburg Gate, Sony Center and other places), famous cartoon and films characters as Batman and Harry Potter all made with Lego pieces. Thousands and thousands of them! You can also watch a 4D movie there and make a tour in a dark castle full of animated Lego models and fun!

Step inside the Legoland and you will think you’ve just jumped into the world’s biggest box of Lego!

Erste kleine test

.

Hallo everyone!

My colleagues and I had our first test yesterday. We were a bit worried about it but everything went well.

As we are on the first level A1 the test is very simple. We learnt how to introduce ourselves, the numbers, plural and verb conjugation (present tense) so far.

We are able to go to a Café and introduce ourselves “Hallo, Ich heiβe Gabi. Ich komme aus Brasilien und wohne in München.  Ich bin 24 Jahre alt und bin Praktikant. Ich spreche Portugiesisch und tanze samba gern“ and to order something to drink and the bill: “ Zwei Kaffee bitte! Ich mochte zahlen, bitte!“.

The course gets even more interesting and exciting when you go to some place and see that you are able to comprehend a bit about what they are talking about. This is very rewarding!

For me the best way to learn is to read again and again the same things to memorize them. A friend of mine told me once that she used to stick some notes on her wall so she could see it every day. I did the same thing and it seems to be working! You should try as well!

See ya!

Meus colegas

Hey everydody!

On Tuesday I had my first german class. I am on the first level and my teacher’s name is Veronika. She is from Munich, Germany.

In my class we have peolpe from 9 different coutries: Brazil (me!), Italia, Mexico, USA, England, Poland, India, North Korea and Portugal. There is a big range of ages there from 19 to 38 and I am the only girl =)

My first class was very good besides the fact that I couldn’t understand many things the teacher said because she is not allowed to speak english but I think is better for us to get used to hear german. Today I could realize that I made a huge progress this week and hope to improve even more during this month.

I posted a picture with me and my collegues! Hope you like it!

See ya!

Hallo!

Hallo!

My name is Gabriela but you can call me Gabi. I am 24 years old and come from Brazil. I am studying Food Engineering and came to Munich for an internship. I arrived here on September and going to stay for 6 months.

Brazil is an amazing country known by its typical food the “feijoada (beans with different kinds of pork)” and brigadeiros (Delicious sweet! A piece of heaven!) as well as its typical drink “caipirinha” (make with cachaça, lemon, sugar and ice).

I was born in São Paulo city which is the biggest city in Brazil with almost 12 million people but I live in Campinas – the third biggest city in São Paulo state.

Brazil is very famous by its Carnaval which is a party made of parades and customs that happens in February and lasts about 3 days. It is full of music, colors, brightness and happiness. The Rio de Janeiro’s Carnaval is in Guinnes Book as the biggest Carnaval all over the world.

Our caipirinha drink is also famous around the world. It is made of lemon, a bit of sugar, ice and what we call cachaça that is a destilled drink from sugar cane. It is a strong drink but you definetely should try it!

I posted a picture of me and all those delicious Brazilian things for you guys! Hope you enjoy it.

Tschüss,

Gabi
