Akkusativ Dativ

There are 4 cases of article form. Few days ago I have written about Nominative. Today I would like to introduce another fellow call “Akkusativ”. Akkusativ is a case of Noun working as an object of the sentence. Of course there will be some changing to the article when the case is change from Nominativ to anything. This time is also the same. When the sentence have akkusativ, article Der is changed to Den. Article Die/Das are still using the same form.
For example, I buy a/the table “Ich kaufe den/einen Tisch”. So, table is the object of this sentence. Have you noticed “der Tisch” is changed to “den Tisch”?
Please see the table below for the article form of each cases.

Nominative Der Tisch Die Maus Das Telefon
Dativ Dem Tisch Der Maus Dam Telefon
Akkusativ Den Tisch Die Maus Das Telefon

Note: I found that a free poster from DeutschAkademie called “Kleine Grammatiktafel der DeutschAkademie” is really useful to me. It is helping me whenever I write a sentence. Please take one home ^_^.

A1/2 City tour

Taking advantage from the teacher sickness, one of my class mates, Ronald, suggested us to go a city tour together. I said yes because this is good opportunity to get to know Munich better. Add it would be a lot better than walking around the city by myself. So, we decided to meet at 1 pm. Some of my classmate couldn’t make it because they have their job. We started from Mariannenplatz column to Frauenkirche Church. Outside the church is renovating. The area was a bit noisy but inside the church was quite and beautiful. Then, we walked to the Residenz, Theater, beer garden and the market. The tour guide told us lots of historical stories along the way. I was half listening and half talking to my friends because this is also a chance to get to know each other since we are from difference countries and having difference experience. After the tour finished, some classmates was planning to go to the beer garden. However, I decided to go home because of the long walking and raining.

Sickness

My teacher is sick, therefore; the class are not running for 2 days. She got a cold. I noticed that her voice was changed and she kept sneezing all the time yesterday. In class, we’ve learned the vocabulary for sickness. I remember the words better when it is really happed.
“Ich bin erkältet” is means “I have a cold” and the symptom around is
die Halsschmerzen = sore throat
husten (v) = Cough
der Schnupfen = Sneeze
niesen (v) = sneeze
die Kopfschmerzen = Headache
die Grippe = Flu
das Fieber = fever
On this circumstance, we get 2 days off this week but we are going to have makeup class for 2 Fridays. I hope she is getting well soon.

Dativ

Wednesday 6 July,
In German, there are 3 types of article in normal form which is der, die, and das. On A1/1 class I have learned that every noun has their own article and we have to memorize it along with the words. For example Der stuhl, Die Tafel, Das Auto. Today lesson is Dativ. My understanding is any Noun after Proposition is considered to change their normal article form.
Der /Das are changed to Dem. Die is changed to Der.

Nominative Der Tisch Die Maus Das Telefon
Dativ Dem Tisch Der Maus Dam Telefon

For example,
Der Dunken ist auf dem Tisch und neben dem Telefon.
Die Tastatur ist vor der Maus
Please note: the red texts are noun after proposition (Dativ).

The key to be able to use Dativ correctly is to always remember articles along with the words. I have homework to write about 10-15 sentences using Dativ. Helpfully I will gain more understanding on this topic.

Class A1/2

The class room is in good size for 10 participants. Most of my classmates are in the age of 20-30. Two of them came from Spain and others came from different countries e.g. USA, Japan, Italy, Greece, Romania, Serbian etc. I’m not brave enough to take ask them to take photo on the first day. I will try to make it by the end of the course ^_^. My teacher is Marion. She is impressed me how she can remember all her student’s names and details. The first day lesson is about occupations “Berufe”. Apart from the occupations on the book, Marion asked our occupation by W-Fragen for example “Was machst du?”, “Was ist dein berufe?”, “Wo Arbeitest du?” and she helps us to translate our occupation to German if we don’t know the words. There are more lessons about business card and making sentence for each occupation. For example, a hairdresser is cut hairs in the hair salon. (Ein Frisör / Eine Frisörin Schneidet Haare in the Frisör salon.) Can you imagine how many new vocabularies we learned for the first day? ^_^

Intro

Hi There, I’m Elle. I’m here in Munich for my good experience. I was thinking to learn German while I spend my time here. One day when I was travelling on a train to the city. I looked up the wall and I saw an ad of the Deutsch Akademy. I like the idea of 5-10 participants in a class with a competitive price. I love to try this out. So, the next few days I came to the office to see the school and environments around.

The school is located right in the centre of the city as advertised. I got off from Karlplatz train station, walked to exit at Sonnenstraße and the school is just there. Since it is on the 3rd floor of the building 8, you options are giving a little effort to walk up through an impressive stairs or you can take the lift. To me, I find this is a good little exercise to walk up and down. The ladies in the office were very friendly to me when I asked information about my course. So, here I am in A1 course.
