Walking along the Isar – Entlang der Isar spazieren gehen

Hello again,

the new lessons were rather hard today, so even though I wanted to visit the Münchner Stadtbibliothek in Gasteig and trying the Sprachcafé they organize, finally I decided just having some rest this afternoon.

As we had some nice, snowy days at the weekend, we used it for getting some fresh, cold air beside the Isar, the river of Münich. Actually it’s much smaller and shallower than I expected, but even in this size I enjoyed walking along and watching the seagulls, swans and ducks. Many people were running, walking their dogs or just hanging around like us. The place has a pleasant athmosphere around, and it’s very popular.

We walked away till Thalkirchen where you can also find the Hellabrunn Zoo, which I pretty much would like to see from the inside, it is in my plans for the next couple of months.

As we followed the road, it also took us around the Naturbad Maria Einsiedel, which I was also suggested to try in the summer. The speciality of the bad is the biological water treatment, which means that the bad is free from any kind of chlorine or chemical additives.

Still many-many new things around. 😊

Bis bald,

Starnberger See

Hello again,

a bit more than a week ago the weather was warm and sunny, so we decided to make a trip to the Starnberger See. That is 25 km from the city, not a big distance and really worth to see.

The lake’s water is excellent quality and very popular bathing place in the summer. Even now, in January it was nearly crowded, many people were sitting and walking around, the restaurants’ terraces were full. The lake also has a 49 km cycling path, so it meets all the possible requirements. (Interesting historical data that King Ludwig II of Bavaria was found dead in the lake in 1886. Poor him.)

We were sitting on the pier and enjoying the surprisingly strong winter sunshine, then also walked around a bit. I would definitely like to go back in the future.

Today school was lighter with a bit less grammar, we learnt about how to express certain periods, terms, appointments and how to talk about events.

We have also got the new information from BildungsLokal that they are organizing a program to the Pinakothek der Moderne. If I take part in the program , will inform you about that too.

Bis morgen,

Szilvi

Visiting Münchner Residenz

Hallo there,

as I mentioned already with some girls from the previous course (A1.2) we keep in touch out of school as well.

After the November course I tried to find a solution not to forget all the things we learnt.  After some searching I have found a place which is called Bildungs Lokal. A place for foreigners, where they can get help in the integration, language learning and organizes interesting free programs.

I applied to them and also did let know my classmates about this option. We had the chance to take part in two events already; first we discovered the Münchner Residenz in the citycenter, which was the bayern kings’ and princes’ palace from 1385.

The building was amazing, fully covered by gold, many of wonderful rooms with old furnitures and decoration, besides we also had pretty good interactive explanation especially for helping us in German learning; we had to make puzzle, recognize objects on pictures, making sentences and they also showed us special things, like parfumes what people used in that age.

The Schatzkammer (Treasury) is also available for the visitors, you can see many beautiful royal jewellery and interesting objects what they used in their everyday life.

Next time I will tell you about our second program in the BayerischeMuseum.

Bis morgen,

Szilvi
