Deutsch Grammar

I have been checking a lot of job advertisements and I have noticed that most of the companies want their prospect employees to not just be able to speak German but speak it really well (business level). After going through job ads, I have come to a conclusion, learning German just by talking to people isn’t a good idea or a practical solution. German Grammar is very systematic and German sentences have a very strict structure. One should learn it properly to be able to speak business level German.

So getting enrolled in a language school is a good investment of money and time.

We are learning a lot of German grammar and I have been appreciated by a lot of my friends for speaking “Proper German“.

I am very hopeful that it will help me with me job hunt. Finger crossed 🤞🏻

Reading Vs Hearing

In A2.2, hearing exercises are all of a sudden tougher. All characters in hearing exercises speak faster and there is usually some distraction added in these recordings. for example, in one of the exercises today, two characters talking while noise of the motorbike of one of the characters was causing distraction.  I find such exercises really good because personally I find speaking and reading easier as compared to hearing.

The official German language exam from Goethe needs you to be proficient with Reading, Speaking, Writing, and Hearing. In DeutschAkademie, attention is paid to all the areas and it is ensured that students are trained properly for the outside “German” world J

We are doing lots of German hearing practise and I am sure pretty soon I will be able to eavesdrop on people who ride S-Bahn with me ;)

Grammar Genius

Germans love their rules and probably that’s why they made sure that their language is also full of rules. However, I think, if you speak more than one language, then Learning German becomes easier. For instance, in my case, Urdu (a language that’s a combination of Arabic and Persian) is my mother tongue and it has articles for every object (like German) so the concept of having an article makes perfect sense to me but unfortunately masculine objects in Urdu aren’t necessarily masculine in German and the other way around so It’s only half a help :)

Luckily, my teacher in A2.2 is also extremely knowledgeable and patient. She ensures that every student gets the concept before she moves on and this helps keeping all her students on one page. We call her the Grammar Genius.

So after our today’s dose of grammar, I am even more convinced that to learn German, one has to properly learn it from a teacher and by taking intensive courses till at least B1.1.

I know it sounds like too much of a work but professionals like me need this language to survive in German job market.

Fun Fact: English job market in Germany is Only 3% which means ‘‘a lot of competition“. So your best bet is to learn the language of the country you are in and learn it properly !!! Strive to be a Grammar genius yourself :)

Mein Lieblingswort auf Deutsch

A2.2 is really fun! I have many reasons to back up my claim :)
Firstly, by the time one reaches this level, he/she can understand what the teacher is saying better than before. Secondly, one can make sense out of text written in books without using a translator and last but not the least, because, you learn advanced grammar with lots of new words.

Our assignment for the day was to write our favourite German word and also mention as to why we find that word so good. All my classmates came up with beautiful words from this very beautiful and rythmic language.

However, my favourite German word isn’t one of the common words. My Favourite German word is “Schadenfreude“ which is a word to refer to a feeling where someone gets a malicious joy out of someone’s misery or misfortune.

I like this word because the other 3 languages that I speak do not have any proper word to define this very common feeling. This is the most complete word in its meaning and it represent a feeling that we all feel but never admit.

Needless to say, TEACHER SHOCKED – I ROCKED!

Finding my “Learner type“

So we learned today that learning process varies from a student to another student. In today’s lecture, we learned what these different types are and what they are called in German. After reading about these types, I realized that I am a communicative, a kinaesthetic, and a logical learner which was an interesting discovery for me. I realized that I find teaching method of DeutschAkademie so good because their teaching material is a perfect blend of all different types of learnings. Auditory learners can benefit from the environment itself where everyone always talks in German, Visual learners can see all these wonderful posters hanging in classrooms and in hallways, and logical learners can benefit from the daily dose of Grammar.

Check what we learned today!
Structure of Haupt- and Nebensätze (sentences) and position of verb, modal verb, and infinitive/Partizip ;)

I am already feeling more confident about my German skills.

Learning German with my Friend

Today our A2.2 course started and to say the least, I was super excited. I have taken all my previous courses with DeutschAkademie and I couldn’t wait to go one step ahead with my time of speaking perfect German. I am already practising it with my Husband, who luckily speaks good German, and I am also talking to everyone out there in German. I have found Germans to be very accepting and open towards people with limited German proficiency. You can speak as bad Deutsch with Germans as you want and they still understand you (in fact they‘ll appreciate the effort). I was happy to be back because I was a bit late with my registration for this course and because seats fill up so quickly and because everyone wants to register again with DeutschAkademie, I thought I will not be able to take classes this month but fortunately, because of high demand, DeutscheAkademie started an intensive-intensive course with one extra day every week and taadaa!!! Here I am “Learning German with my Friend“.

Hello people

Today I want to tell you a little bit more about myself. As you know I come from Mexico and I am 19 years old, but you don´t know that I am the oldest one of three daughters. I was raised and born in Mexico and so my whole family, my mom is the youngest one of two daughters and my dad is the youngest of two sons, they got married when my mom was 26 and my dad 28. After 2 years they had me and some years after they had my little sisters that are 18 and 12 years old. So for me it has been really hard to be away of my sisters and my parents since this is the first time I’m away from home, but every day gets easier and I maintain myself busy with the school and my friends.

To be in a foreign country where everything and everyone is new for you can be hard but it’s positive, you just have to be conscious about your goals and have them really present in your daily life, for when you miss your family or friends. You remember you are doing it because of them and your personal realization.

Hello people

Today I would like to talk about a museum I visited the other day, it is the Münchener Stadt Museum.

one day I was walking around the center of Munich and me and my friend didn’t have anything more interesting to do so when we saw this building from the distance we decided we wanted to know what it was. When we went in they told us it was the State Museum of Munich so we decided that we wanted to go in, because we thought it was really interesting to know a little bit more about about Munich. Because we are living here it’s important to know what happens in the city and why it is and was important historically. The museum has a lot of expositions some of them are temporal meaning that they are exhibit just for a short period of time. The one exhibition that I found most interesting was one called “Ehem Jüdischer Besitz” that talks about all the properties such as jewelry, high end clothes, paintings, furniture or sculptures that belonged to Jude’s and taken away by the nazis. The museum dedicates this exposition to the recovery of this objects throughout the years that preceded the Second World War, the exposition it’s really well executed it explains everything. I recommend a lot to visit this museum but especially this exposition

Hello people

today i’m going to talk about the English gardens it’s the one of biggest parks in the city, it crosses a lot of main points into the city as well as the Isar river here you can find a lot of attractions there are a lot of places were you can eat and have a drink in the different Biergartens, also when is winter you can play is no game we have your own snowman made and four when it is summer you can swim in the river or practice surf, right now it’s one of my favorite places around the city because you can go with friends and have some drinks or just go by yourself and enjoy reading a book, for me it’s a great experience because you can have a genuine taste of German culture there are a lot of things to do, people are always playing sports such as baseball, volleyball or football, and you can always ask to join, there are also a lot of families and friends just throwing a picnic, a really good idea is to make one with your friends when it’s sunny, you can also take a walk an eat in the Chinese tower where you can find beer or traditional dishes from Germany, so take a walk in the English gardens as fast as you can,
